Launch of Windows Phone in India today

New Delhi, 12th October, 2011: Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. today launched the Windows Phone in India. With an all new rich and dynamic user interface of Live Tiles and Hubs, Windows Phone enables people to quickly find, connect and consume the things that they care about the most. The new OS sports a smooth transitional user interface called 'Metro', a visually appealing modern design language based on a set of principles which are modern, clean, alive in motion, and authentically digital.

Announcing the launch of Windows Phone in India, Mr. Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft India said, "We are incredibly excited about today's unveiling of Windows Phone. With Windows Phone, we have looked at the consumer experience in an absolutely fresh way, and the end result is an operating system that is stylish, innovative, and one that seamlessly integrates the most sought after user experiences such as search, gaming, email and social networks across Bing, Office, Xbox LIVE, Facebook, Twitter and more."
The conventional application icons have been replaced by Live Tiles on the Windows Phone start screen, thus boldly displaying critical information at a glance. The Live Tiles come to life with real-time updates from the Web such as news, appointments or the status of friends. New Live Tiles can be easily created from whatever content a consumer wants, for applications, websites and music.

Steve Jobs the Apple founder and former CEO has died RIP

Steve Jobs, the Apple founder and former CEO, has died at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer. "The world has lost a visionary," Barack Obama says in tribute.

1955
Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24th, 1955. He was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, where they lived on 45th avenue in San Francisco. His father was of "imposing demeanor" and before he was a repo man, he was an engine room machinist in the Coast guard. He'd tinker with cars and sell them for a profit.
Steve was a hyperactive child. Somewhere in his childhood, he ingested a bottle of ant poison and had to be brought to the emergency room.
Of being adopted, Steve would later say, "I think it's a natural curiosity for people to want to understand where certain traits come from." "But mostly, I'm an environmentalist. I think the way you are raised, your values, and most of your worldview come from the experiences you had growing up."

Bill Gates said that I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.
Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.
The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come.
For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor.  I will miss Steve immensely.

google versus facebook

Google’s senior vice-president of engineering Vic Gundotra introduced his company’s latest social networking platform project Google Plus On June 28, 2011.
Within four weeks became the fastest social site to reach 25 million users.
The unveiling of Google Plus has been overwhelmingly framed as a direct challenge to Facebook, a struggle for a share of its 750 million users and almost $2 billion in annual advertising revenue.
Bottom line: Google is still the Internet's leading brand in terms of number of users. Facebook has an enormous base of regular users who spend a considerable amount of time on its site -- much more time than on Google. However, Facebook's users were not particularly happy with their experience last year. It will be interesting to see whether Facebook's customer satisfaction scores come in higher in this year's ACSI.

A recent survey of more than 2,000 app developers reported that two-thirds think Google Plus will “catch up” to Facebook, saying that with assets such as search, Maps and YouTube, the company “trumps Facebook’s social graph lead,” and 49% think Google “shows more innovation than Facebook.”

Conclusion

Many other factors will come into play to determine whether Google+ can successfully challenge Facebook in the social media arena, including the appeal of the new service and whether people are willing to leave an established network where they already have numerous connections.
Google is well positioned as an Internet brand with better customer satisfaction than Facebook, and is a larger company with more internal resources. However, Facebook is a high-growth company that's likely on the verge of a public stock offering, meaning it has access both to a great deal of investor cash and top-flight employees hoping to cash in on that growth.
